| Service Flags | |||

Service Flags were
first seen hanging in windows during World War I
and again during World War II. Today, once
again, they are gaining popularity during the
"War on Terrorism". The blue star(s) in the
center represents each *immediate
family member serving in the military during
times of war or hostility. If a service member
dies, the blue star is covered by a gold star,
slightly smaller in size so that the blue
outline of the original star shows.
