THE FAMILY READINESS GROUP (FRG)

Families play an important role in unit readiness and retention. Family Readiness Group is a "support group" for the families of each unit. It is managed by the commander and volunteer unit family members. The FRG’s mission is making families a part of the Unit so they understand and are more supportive of the unit’s mission. FRG’s also have the task of keeping families informed prepared and self-reliant in the event of a deployment. All family members are welcome and encouraged to be involved.

Some activities FRGs participate in are:

· Phone tree
· E-Newsletter-Share information and news.
· Send Off / Welcome Homes for AT and Deployments
· Unit events: cookouts, holiday parties for the kids
· Bake sales and fundraisers

The main difference between regular and military time is how hours are expressed. Regular time uses numbers 1 to 12 to identify each of the 24 hours in a day. In military time, the hours are numbered from 00 to 23. Under this system, midnight is 00, 1 a.m. is 01, 1 p.m. is 13, and so on.

Regular time requires the use of a.m. and p.m. to clearly identify the time of day. Since military time uses a unique two-digit number to identify each of the 24 hours in a day, a.m. and p.m. are unnecessary.
